Introduction to the city:
Located in the Gulf of Tehuantepec in southern Mexico, Salina Cruz is a city with one of the most important commercial and oil ports of Mexico.
The name of the city,
Ike Sidi Biá ("Red Saline" in zapotec), it's due to its salt landscape, as it was formerly a fishing village that they lived only from the sea.
Today we find the notable presence of the Refinery Ing. Antonio Dovalí Jaime de Petróleos Mexicanos, of its construction caused the people were replaced for what is now the city of Salina Cruz, whose most of the inhabitants are refinery workers who were coming in search of job.
Yet,
the essence of the life of a coastal fishing village is still present not far from the city , where much of the salt and fishing families that once lived on the beach in Salina Cruz moved around the city, creating small and humble fishing villages.
In these peoples inhabit many indigenous cultures like zapotecs, ikots, waves, mixe, chontal and mixtec.
The geography of the place, with its beautiful pointbreaks and lakes, makes it ideal for practicing kitesurf and surf in all its aspects.
